The Packard Caribbean was a halo vehicle produced by Packard from 1953 through 1956. Some of the Caribbean's styling was derived from the Pan American Packard show car of the previous year. Produced only as a convertible from 1953 to 1955, the Caribbean added a hardtop in 1956. Introduced as part of the Cavalier model range, the 1953 Caribbean was perhaps Packard’s most easily identified car because of its full cutout rear wheel housing and side trim, limited to a chrome band outline that stretched the entire length of the car. The band also helped to further delineate the car's wheel openings. A steel continental spare tire was also standard. The hood featured a broad, low hood scoop. Bodies for the Caribbean were modified by Mitchell-Bentley of Iona, Michigan. ,Interiors of the Caribbean were richly upholstered in leather. Caribbeans were also generously optioned.Model year 1955 saw the Caribbean line, now with V8 engine, fully adopt the Senior Packard line styling; the car was also available in two or three-tone paint patterns. The single hood scoop was split into two units. The car also received Packard's torsion level suspension.

Production for 1955 stood at 500 units.

This very nice low mileage example has always been stored indoors, it is a no rust car. The Power windows all work, The Top is manually operated. New top cylinders come with the car. The seller, a noted collector, prefers to operate manually because headliner tears easily. Lots of Mechanical work was performed 1 year ago, including: New tires, all new wheel cylinders & master cylinder, hoses, carb, fuel pump, SS gas tank liner & aluminized exhaust system. The Front end was rebuilt about 500 miles ago. Car was delivered new with white paint on the inner fenders. The Leather/ vinyl interior, carpet, trunk & dash are 5 years old & in excellent condition. The entire car was painted with a modern paint at that time also. Under carriage was pressure washed & painted completely in black. In short this is a Straight, rust free #2 car. It runs & drives very well. It is a Very Good Original Car that has been cared for its entire life and had the above work performed making it ready to use immediately.
