The Packard Caribbean was a halo vehicle produced by Packard from 1953 through 1956. Some of the Caribbean's styling was derived from the Pan American Packard show car of the previous year. Produced only as a convertible from 1953 to 1955, the Caribbean added a hardtop in 1956. Introduced as part of the Cavalier model range, the 1953 Caribbean was perhaps Packard’s most easily identified car because of its full cutout rear wheel housing and side trim, limited to a chrome band outline that stretched the entire length of the car. The band also helped to further delineate the car's wheel openings. A steel continental spare tire was also standard. The hood featured a broad, low hood scoop. Bodies for the Caribbean were modified by Mitchell-Bentley of Iona, Michigan. Interiors of the Caribbean were richly upholstered in leather. Caribbeans were also generously optioned.Model year 1955 saw the Caribbean line, now with V8 engine, fully adopt the Senior Packard line styling; the car was also available in two or three-tone paint patterns. The single hood scoop was split into two units. The car also received Packard's torsion level suspension.

Production for 1955 stood at 500 units.

This very rare example is 1 of only 3 special order Manual Transmission Caribbeans delivered in 1955. Finished in its Correct Jade White/Rose/Metallic Grey color combination, the car was recently rerestored by noted Restoration Shop L-Cars in Wisconsin. All New Paint, Chrome, Top, Suspension System, Brake System, were completed - as well as several other peripheral systems overhauled - such as the Generator, Carburators, and nice updates such as the 2 point Level Load Leveler and Electronic Ignition. The engine had been rebuilt fairly recently in a previous restoration. The car runs cool, has strong Oil Pressure, and has convered about 4,000 miles since so is fully sorted and ready to go. A consistent Best of Show and First Place Award Winner at regional events, this car is just the thing if you are looking for that Rare car that can be driven to a top level Concours, win a trophy and be driven back home again! Offered at below the cost of Restoration, this car is sure to move quickly!
