1936 Ford Phaeton Excellent Running and Driving example
Visually, the 1936 Ford was much more modern with the grille pushed forward and made more prominent by de-emphasized and more-integrated fenders. A major advance was a true integrated trunk on "trunkback" sedans, though the traditional "flatback" was also offered. Outdated body styles like the Victoria were also deleted for the year. Two trim lines were offered, standard and DeLuxe, across a number of body styles including a base roadster, five-window coupe, three-window coupe, Tudor and Fordorsedans in flatback or trunkback versions, a convertible sedan, a woody station wagon, and new Model 51 truck. Chevrolet regained the sales lead at the end of 1936, but the Ford still sold extremely well. A new club cabriolet model was introduced with a fully-framed windshield and weatherproof top, and the convertible sedan gained the popular integrated trunkback design.
The look was updated with an inverted pentagonal grille with all-vertical bars beneath a prominent hood and three horizontal chrome side strips (on DeLuxe models). A concealed horn, long a prominent part of the Ford's design, also brought the car into modern times. Other major changes for 1936 were the use of pressed steel "artillery" solid wheels instead of wire wheels.
This very nice example is a nicely restored car that has seen regular use so so is ready for long distance touring. The desirable color combination, rear mounted spare, steel wheels, and wind wings make this car a stand out anywhere you take it / The V8 Ford is a special care- really one of the best cars ever made. The correct 85 horse power Flathead V8 and three speed transmission makes this automobile a pleasure to drive. The Leatherette interior is in excellent condition, and the rubber mats and trim pieces are present. The top and side curtains are as new.. The correct tan top complements the car nicely. The parade top boot is included.
The paint shows very well with few flaws noted, mainly at the lower rear area of the car (pictured) The underside of the car is correct and while not cleaned for these shots would clean up quite nicely. The Chrome is in veyr good to excellent condition with only very few flaws noted.
The car is ready for long distance touring. The car runs and drives very well and is just the thing for your next AACA or Ford V8 Club event- in fact this car particialted in the 2021 Newport Hill Climb- being driven there and back without incident.
The V8 Ford Phaeton is one of the most desirible Pre War cars- really one of the best cars ever made- no collection is complete without a V8 Ford, the Phaeton being the most desirable and sporting body style of the era.
