1939 Lincoln K Convertible Sedan 1939 NY Auto Show Car Great Running Condition
This is a very rare and beautifully restored 1939 Lincoln K LeBaron Convertible Sedan that was the New York Auto Show Car.
In 1932, Lincoln introduced the V12-powered KB, generally considered the most desirable Lincoln of all time. It's 447 CuIn V12 produced 150 HP, while still offering the V8 in the KA. In 1933, an new a 381 CuIn V12 producing 125 HP was introduced to replace the V8's-all Lincolns were now V12's. In 1934, the smaller V12 was enlarged to 414 CuIn producing 150 HP and the larger V12 was dropped. This engine continued on to the end of K series production in 1939.
This LeBaron Convertible Sedan was delivered to the NY Auto Show in 1939 according to its build sheet; and is 1 of 3 produced in this body style out of the 139 Lincoln Ks produced in this final year of K Production. The LeBaron Convertible sedan was built on the longer 145-inch wheelbase creating a very impressive and imposing profile as well as a beautiful ride for its passengers.
The Lincoln was purchased by the Ambassador to Venezuela and spent many years there before returning to the states. By 1965, this Lincoln was in Southfield, MI under the ownership of James Snyder. It was in all original condition, having accumulated 50,000 miles from new. In April 1965, it was acquired by Delyle Beyer from Hartford, MI. Mr. Beyer, a well-known Lincoln Collector, kept the car the rest of his life. Mr. Beyer completely restored the car over decades with completion around 2017. The engine rebuild, new exhaust system, radiator rebuild, instrumentation restoration and complete chrome replating and stainless steel polishing were all performed in 2016-17.
The present owner acquired the Lincoln in 2021 and has since completed its restoration as of December 2025. The seats were completely rebuilt with correct materials and new Dark Blue matching leather, new Dark Blue wool carpets installed, a new Black Haartz cloth convertible top with tan headliner installed, and just completed a complete repaint with epoxy primer and Dark Blue acrylic lacquer. Six new Firestone wide white walled tires were just installed and a full servicing performed.
The car runs and drives perfectly. It starts right up, idles smoothly, shifts crisply, stops well, and is a true pleasure to drive-Please note this car was not detailed for these photos. This Lincoln comes complete with its factory build records and literally hundreds of letters, receipts and photos from the past 61 years. This Lincoln would be welcomed at nearly all concours events and CCCA CARavans.
