For Sale 1953 Nash Healey

The Nash-Healey sports car was the result of a chance meeting on a cruise between British sports-car maker Donald Healey and the president of the Nash Kelvinator Corporation, George Mason.

This 1953 Nash-Healey Le Mans Coupe features a body by Pininfarina of Turin, Italy, a chassis by Donald Healey of Warwick, England, and a drivetrain by Nash Motors of Kenosha, Wisconsin; to say it was an international effort may well be an understatement. To boot, the Le Mans edition was produced to celebrate the Nash-Healey's third-place finish at the 1952 24 Hours of Le Mans. These were hand-built, all-steel, one-piece body with an aluminum hood and trunk lid. The 1953 model year marked the lowest production with approximately 50 coupes built that year of the 506 built between 1951 and 1954.

This particular model is one of the very few late 1953 LeMans Coupes with a 1954 roofline. It still retains its numbers matching engine which was rebuilt in August of 2013 by the previous owner. It also has its original 3 speed manual transmission. Under the hood is the tried-and-true Dual Jetfire 252 CI OHV inline 6-cylinder engine which, since the 1951 introduction, received a number of upgrades, such as a lightweight aluminum head, larger displacement and enhanced twin carburetors.

Based on information from previous owners this car remained largely original prior to its acquisition in 2008. The car reportedly has never required a complete restoration but did receive a cosmetic restoration in 2009.

Chassis number 3072 with the original engine and factory aluminum head along with original drivetrain. Previous owner records suggest the car received a cosmetic restoration sometime after 2008 and was a running unrestored example at that time. Following are services performed during current ownership.

Service performed in last year:
-rebuilt wheel cylinders and master cylinder with new brake shoes
-New tires
-New transmission mounts and engine mounts
-New torque rod bushings
-New custom machined front lower spring perches (originals are a known issue on Nash Healey's)
-reconditioned fuel tank, all fuel lines, and sender
-rebuilt carter carburetors
-rebuilt water pump
-New Vintage 6V battery
-New spark plugs, dwell and timing set

Previous owner had engine and transmission rebuilt 08/2013 and installed new clutch and pressure plate. Less than 1,000 miles since rebuild.

This is arguably one of the finest remaining Nash Healey LeMans Coupes, an honest example that has been well cared for it's entire life, with sensitive cosmetic restoration, and complete mechanical recommission. The car is quite show worthy, and the Seller has made every effort to ensure the car is a great running and driving car ready for the numerous vintage events it is eligible for such as the Colorado Grand.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Turn Key example that can be pressed into immediate service, on either the Concours or Vintage Rally circuit.
