1929 Ford Model A Pick Up From the Kermit Wilson Collection
From the Kermit Wilson Collection
Kermit Wilson was an inventor and very successful Entrepreneur who founded a large manufacturing company specializing in space saving seating and other products widely used in Schools and other institutional settings. It's a international company with plants in Several Countries. Kermit was an early member of the Upper Midwest Region of the Classic Car Club of America and loved to tour his cars. His cars were all kept in great running condition so he could jump in and drive any one of them any time he wanted, and he often drove them, really on a daily basis. He passed away in 2000 but his wife Lavonne-who was by his side for the whole ride and also had a great love for the cars-did not want to sell the cars since they were a big reminder to her of Kermit and the many great times they had as a couple in the cars. The cars have been kept stored in a climate controlled environment and were all put away properly by the their house mechanic, with minimal fuel left in the tanks. I have no doubt that these cars will wake up pretty easily, new batteries, some fresh fuel, and you could be up and running. Obviously you will most likely need to be doing brake work on the cars that have hydraulic brakes, new tires, and more to drive them cross country-but this is a pretty good storage facility and the cars have faired well. The cars are offered as is, and generally have not been turned over at this point.
Lavonne passed last year and the cars are now being offered for sale. I want to apologize for the photography here. Despite the best efforts of the heirs the landlord did not replace the failed bulbs in this building, and lighting was a real problem. The cars could really not be moved easily given the layout of the building, so I had to shoot them in place in most cases. Further complicating the photo shoot a flock of geese took out the power to the entire building for 2-3 hours right in the middle of the shoot. These are all the photos I have at this point.
This very nice Ford Pickup moved easily when we pushed it a short distance. Everything appeared to be in order here and no major flaws were noted.
